Rev. +ΔHOΓЄ/N’ AΘVΠ, ΠA/TPIK S ΔPOΓ, / T,[R, Π]ΛO[H] in four lines, decorations above and below. Unpublished in the standard references. An interesting middle-Byzantine seal bearing a rare naval command. Some striking weakness, otherwise, very fine.



As commander of the imperial fleet (droungarios ton basilikon ploimon), Diogenes was one of highest officials in the Byzantine military.
